    The Reef 39.5 mm with its “Bahama Blue” dial is the ultimate summer divers’ watch with exchangeable ceramic bezels and a patented fine adjustment system for a perfect fit in heat and humidity! Our experts in the Swiss Jura mountains achieve the dial's deep, lustrous shine by applying colored lacquer on a mirror-polished surface, followed by seven coats of transparent lacquer, which are then polished down. This is evident in the 6 o’clock date window, a hallmark of all Formex watches. Completing the summer look, the color-matched ceramic bezel is polished with diamond paste, with numerals and hour markers hand-filled with black resin for optimal legibility. The 120-click unidirectional bezel can be removed and swapped by hand with one of four existing options from the Reef 39.5 mm collection. The “Bahama Blue” is powered by a COSC-certified Sellita SW300-1 with 56 hours of power reserve. Our unique gradual fine-adjustment systems in all strap and bracelet options noticeably enhance wearing comfort on the wrist throughout the day, especially during the summer months.

UNIDIRECTIONAL ROTATABLE CERAMIC BEZEL

Being one of the most exposed parts, the unidirectional rotatable bezel is made of an extremely hard and scratch-resistant Zirconium oxide ceramic. The color-matched "Bahama Blue" bezel is polished with diamond paste and the numerals and hour markers are hand-filled with black resin for optimal legibility. Machined gear-like indentations on the bezel’s edge allow a diver the ideal grip to safely set and monitor diving time and decompression stops. The 120 click action is responsive and smooth, yet offers firm and precise function of the bezel. Besides that, the bezel can be changed without the use of any tools and switched with one of the existing four bezel options of the Reef 39.5mm collection..

officially certified movement

The Reef 39.5mm is powered by a Swiss Made Sellita SW300-1 self-winding movement with a power reserve of 56 hours. We've chosen its highest quality grade "Chronometer" because it comes with premium components such as a Glucydur balance wheel which is exceptionally hard and stable, very resistant to deformation, non-magnetic, and non-corrosive. Another reason why we've purposely chosen this thin movement is because it allowed to construct the Reef at just 11.0mm overall height. The movement is completely decorated and wound by Formex’s in-house developed and custom built skeletonized rotor. Each one of these movements is certified by the COSC (the official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) and undergoes the meticulous 15-day rate test to ensure extraordinary levels of mechanical accuracy and precision. Each certified chronometer is unique, identified by a number engraved on its movement and a certificate number issued by the COSC. While less than 3% of Swiss watch movements are officially certified, Formex further rate test them per the same criteria after assembly, to measure if there is any deviation from the certification rates.

Besides contributing to visual appeal, the details on the REEF also serve a purpose. For a timepiece to be a watch for all occasions, it needs to feel exceptionally comfortable on the wrist. For even more wrist comfort, Formex added their patented Carbon Fiber Composite Folding Clasp that allows for fine-adjustment of the strap length on the go, allowing for a perfect fit on the wrist in all conditions and temperatures. The strap can be changed without the use of any tools with Formex's patented quick release system. The stainless steel bracelet with screwed links has the same quick release system and also features a unique fine-adjustment system.

A LACQUERED AND POLISHED DIAL

Experts at our own dial manufacture in the Swiss Jura mountains apply a colored lacquer on a mirror-polished surface followed by the layering of seven coats of transparent lacquer. These are subsequently polished down to achieve a uniquely deep lustrous shine, particularly evident in the angled date window at 6 o'clock (with its color matched date wheel) – a hallmark of all Formex watches. To further create visual depth without increasing overall height (a mere 11mm!), the gun-metal finished and hand-applied indices are triangle-shaped and angled towards the center to imitate a chapter ring. To increase legibility, the indices as well as the broad hour and minute hands are vertically brushed, while the bevels are mirror polished. Hands and hour markers are deep filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.

FINE-ADJUSTMENT DEPLOYANT CARBON CLASP

Your rubber strap comes on our new deployant clasp with a patented fine-adjustment. More intuitive to operate, the new version is fully made out of our proprietary carbon fiber composite. The micro-adjustment is now even easier to use and can be operated while the watch is on your wrist. Lightweight, smooth to the touch, ultra-durable and highly functional, this clasp is a real piece of engineering, making your REEF even more comfortable to wear.
