ABOUT THIS WATCH
With its tool-free exchangeable bezels and straps, the Reef stands out as one of the market’s most versatile mechanical dive watches. Built in a more compact, 39.5mm hand-finished stainless steel case, the “Baby” Reef features an officially certified Swiss movement with 56 hours of power reserve and unique gradual fine-adjustment systems across all strap- and bracelet options, noticeably increasing wearing comfort on the wrist throughout the day.
The 39.5mm stainless-steel case with its distinctive shape provides both a functional guard for the screw-down crown and a visual symmetry alike. Originally designed as a 42mm dive watch, the smaller diameter also means a shorter, more wearable lug-to-lug distance of 45.5mm and a height of just 11mm. A double gasket construction is tested for 300 m / 1000 ft of water resistance. Mirror-polished bevels and brushed surfaces throughout the watch case, bracelet and down to the hands and triangle-shaped indices
create a unique balance between elegance and the brand’s high-octane spirit.
The four available dials are manufactured in Formex’s in-house dial manufacture in the Swiss Jura mountains. The blue, green and silver dials are finished with a sunburst effect and a hand-applied color gradient. As for the white dial, the initial application of white lacquer on a mirror-polished surface is followed by the layering of seven coats of transparent lacquer, which are subsequently polished down to achieve a uniquely deep aspect of this dial. To further create visual depth without increasing overall height, the hand-applied indices are triangle-shaped and imitate a chapter ring. To increase legibility and to reflect the case finishing, the indices as well as the broad hour and minute hands are vertically brushed, while the bevels are mirror polished. The date window is angled on both sides to increase legibility of the color-adjusted date. Hands and hour markers as well as a capsule on the bezel’s zero marker are deep filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.

FEATURES
An Automatic, also called self-winding watch, is a mechanical watch in which the mainspring is wound automatically as a result of the natural motion of the wearer's arm, to provide energy to run the watch, making manual winding unnecessary. All our Automatic movements are manufactured in Switzerland.
Found in diving watches, the unidirectional rotating bezel is a unique feature that helps measure diving time in a handy and effective manner. The bezel can only rotate in a counter-clockwise direction, which ensures diver's safety even in the case of any accidental manipulation underwater.
A screw-down crown is a threaded winding crown that screws tightly into the case and prevents water and dust from entering. Screw-down crowns are commonly used in Diver’s watches, as they prevent from accidentally pushing open the crown, causing possible water damage.
A sapphire crystal or “glass” is a very hard, transparent material made of crystallizing pure aluminium oxide at extremely high temperatures. Sapphire is one of the hardest substances on earth. It measures 9 on the Mohs scale (diamond measures 10, the highest rating), which is a system for rating the relative hardness of various materials, making it virtually scratch proof.
Applying AR coating will limit the reflection on a sapphire or mineral glass to a very low level.
A chronometer is a watch that has been tested and certified to meet the most strict precision and accuracy standards. “Chronometer” isn’t just a name that any watch brand can print on the dial of its watches. It is an official nomenclature, defined by precise rules, which lay down the definition of the term “chronometer”, describing the categories, the test programme and the acceptable minimum requirements for wrist chronometers. In Switzerland, the COSC, or Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, is the only official organisation allowed to certify chronometers.
Water resistance measures how much water pressure a watch can handle before it breaks. This measurement is important to know for the proper care and keeping of your watch. Water resistance of 300 m / 1000 ft means that it can be used for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
This watch features an ultra-strong and light-weight folding clasp, made of carbon fiber composite and a stainless steel or titanium buckle. The gradual fine adjustment system allows you to tighten or loosen the strap length when the wrist size varies due to temperature and activity.
All straps and bracelets can be interchanged by hand without the use of any tools and in a few mere seconds. This allows you to easily swap straps on the go and wear your personal style for any occasion.

Unidirectional rotatable Ceramic bezel
Being one of the most exposed parts, the unidirectional rotatable bezel is made of an extremely hard and scratch-resistant Zirconium oxide ceramic. The graduations and numbers are engraved by femto-laser pulsations. Each bezel takes 60 minutes of precision engraving to achieve its three-dimensional effect. Machined gear-like indentations on the bezel’s edge allow a diver the ideal grip to safely set and monitor diving time and decompression stops. The 120 click action is responsive and smooth, yet offers firm and precise function of the bezel. Besides that, the bezel can be changed without the use of any tools.

officially certified movement
The Reef 39.5mm is powered by a Swiss Made Sellita SW300-1 self-winding movement with a power reserve of 56 hours. We've chosen its highest quality grade "Chronometer" because it comes with premium components such as a Glucydur balance wheel which is exceptionally hard and stable, very resistant to deformation, non-magnetic, and non-corrosive. Another reason why we've purposely chosen this thin movement is because it allowed to construct the Reef at just 11.0mm overall height. The movement is completely decorated and wound by Formex’s in-house developed and custom built skeletonized rotor. Each one of these movements is certified by the COSC (the official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) and undergoes the meticulous 15-day rate test to ensure extraordinary levels of mechanical accuracy and precision. Each certified chronometer is unique, identified by a number engraved on its movement and a certificate number issued by the COSC. While less than 3% of Swiss watch movements are officially certified, Formex further rate test them per the same criteria after assembly, to measure if there is any deviation from the certification rates.
fine adjustment clasp
Besides contributing to visual appeal, the details on the REEF also serve a purpose. For a timepiece to be a watch for all occasions, it needs to feel exceptionally comfortable on the wrist. For even more wrist comfort, Formex added their patented Carbon Fiber Composite Folding Clasp that allows for fine-adjustment of the strap length on the go, allowing for a perfect fit on the wrist in all conditions and temperatures. The strap can be changed without the use of any tools with Formex's patented quick release system. The stainless steel bracelet with screwed links has the same quick release system and also features a unique fine-adjustment system.

meticulous attention to detail
Understated at first glance, but beneath the apparent simplicity lies exceptional craftsmanship in every respect. Take the symmetrical 39.5mm stainless steel case with its incredibly detailed finish on the ceramic bezel, perfectly rounded off with hand-finished mirror-polished bevels. The sunray finished dial is manufactured at Formex’s in-house dial manufacture in the Jura mountains. The gradient for the different colors is sprayed by hand. The REEF’s bold rehaut-style hour markers are also hand-applied and triangle shaped, pointing towards the broad hour and minute hands that share the same detailed beveled mirror polish and brushed top surface finishing. Hands and hour markers as well as a capsule on the bezel’s zero marker are deep-filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions. Being able to read the time with absolute certainty is a matter of survival when diving.
