About this watch
Expanding upon the core concept of the original REEF diver, the FORMEX REEF GMT allows to track three different time zones, without sacrificing any of the REEF's robust build quality or patented interchangeable bezel and bracelet systems. The 42mm stainless steel watch is powered by a self-winding COSC-certified SW330-2 GMT movement that comes in Sellita’s highest quality grade, using top of the line components only found in Chronometer-grade movements. The movement is visible through a sapphire crystal display case back and is beautifully decorated, automatically charging with a custom made skeleton rotor. The thin high-precision caliber allowed to construct the REEF at just 11.4mm thickness and a perceived height of 9.4mm, making it a great fit for travel, adventure and the elegant occasion alike. For any underwater activities, a double gasket construction and screw-down crown are designed and tested for 300 m / 1000 ft of water resistance.
Being one of the most exposed parts, the bidirectional rotatable GMT bezels with a unique sunburst finish are made of an extremely hard and scratch-resistant Zirconium oxide ceramic and one stainless steel option. The bezels with white numerals on the scale are filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 and glow in the dark. The 48-click action is smooth and offers to accurately track a third timezone. This bezel can be changed without the use of any tools.
The sunray finished dial is manufactured at Formex’s in-house dial manufacture in the Jura mountains. The gradient for the different colors is sprayed by hand. The REEF’s bold rehaut-style hour markers are also hand-applied and triangle shaped, pointing towards the broad hour and minute hands that share the same detailed beveled mirror polish and brushed top surface finishing. Hands and hour markers are deep-filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.
The Solid-link stainless steel bracelet, the Mesh stainless steel bracelet, the leather and rubber strap all feature a buckle with a patented fine-adjustment system as well as a completely re-engineered and patented quick release system that allows to swap straps without the use of any tools.

Tool-Free Interchangeable GMT Bezels
The new FORMEX REEF GMT features the patented tool-free interchangeable bezel system that first debuted on the REEF diver, and all bezels are interchangeable between the two models. This permits owners to instantly swap out their bezels to customize their watch, or to quickly remove them for easy cleaning. Since the REEF GMT is not explicitly a dive watch, its bezel system has been updated to include a piston ratcheting system that provides it with bidirectional motion. Additionally, as the bezel itself features a 24-hour scale, it now offers a 48-click design to perfectly correspond with its intended GMT functionality. To ensure maximum durability, the bezels are made from zirconium oxide ceramic or stainless steel, finished with a unique sunburst and an engraved 24-hour scale filled with either rose gold lacquer, black lacquer, or luminous Grade A Super-LumiNova BGW9. FORMEX REEF GMT owners also have the option to purchase additional bezels separately from the FORMEX Online Boutique.
Officially certified GMT movement
The REEF is powered by a Swiss Made Sellita SW330-2 self-winding GMT movement with a power reserve of 56 hours. We've chosen its highest quality grade "Chronometer" because it comes with premium components such as a Glucydur balance wheel which is exceptionally hard and stable, very resistant to deformation, non-magnetic, and non-corrosive. Another reason why we've purposely chosen this thin movement is because it allowed to construct the REEF at just 11.4mm thickness and a perceived height of 9.4mm. The movement is completely decorated and wound by Formex’s in-house developed and custom built skeletonized rotor. Each one of these movements is certified by the COSC (the official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) and undergoes the meticulous 15-day rate test to ensure extraordinary levels of mechanical accuracy and precision. Each certified chronometer is unique, identified by a number engraved on its movement and a certificate number issued by the COSC. While less than 3% of Swiss watch movements are officially certified, Formex further rate test them per the same criteria after assembly, to measure if there is any deviation from the certification rates.
fine adjustment clasp
Besides contributing to visual appeal, the details on the REEF also serve a purpose. For a timepiece to be a watch for all occasions, it needs to feel exceptionally comfortable on the wrist. For even more wrist comfort, Formex added their patented Carbon Fiber Composite Folding Clasp that allows for fine-adjustment of the strap length on the go, allowing for a perfect fit on the wrist in all conditions and temperatures. The strap can be changed without the use of any tools with Formex's patented quick release system. The stainless steel bracelet with screwed links has the same quick release system and also features a unique fine-adjustment system.
meticulous attention to detail
Understated at first glance, but beneath the apparent simplicity lies exceptional craftsmanship in every respect. Take the symmetrical 42mm stainless steel case with its incredibly detailed finish on the ceramic bezel, perfectly rounded off with hand-finished mirror-polished bevels. Hands and hour markers as well as a capsule on the bezel’s zero marker are deep-filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions. Being able to read the time with absolute certainty is a matter of survival when diving.
