ABOUT THIS WATCH

Stealth Mode. Racing Soul.

The Essence Ceramica Dark Matter Redshift brings together advanced ceramic engineering, Swiss mechanical precision, and a bold motorsport-inspired aesthetic.

Crafted entirely from virtually scratchproof zirconium oxide ceramic, its 41mm case and integrated bracelet feature a predominantly sandblasted matte finish, contrasted by carefully placed diamond-polished accents. The refined geometry and interplay of surfaces give the watch its distinctive stealthy character, while Formex's patented Case Suspension System ensures exceptional comfort on the wrist.

A genuine Muonionalusta meteorite dial, treated with black-gold galvanization, reveals its unique crystalline structure in deep anthracite and near-black tones. Striking red accents add a dynamic sporting contrast, reflecting the racing DNA at the heart of Formex.

Powered by the COSC-certified Swiss Sellita SW200-2 Power+ automatic movement with 65 hours of power reserve, the Dark Matter Redshift also features the world's first on-the-fly micro-adjustable clasp integrated into a full ceramic bracelet.

Produced in limited annual batches of 100 pieces.

FEATURES

An Automatic, also called self-winding watch, is a mechanical watch in which the mainspring is wound automatically as a result of the natural motion of the wearer's arm, to provide energy to run the watch, making manual winding unnecessary. All our Automatic movements are manufactured in Switzerland.

A chronometer is a watch that has been tested and certified to meet the most strict precision and accuracy standards. “Chronometer” isn’t just a name that any watch brand can print on the dial of its watches. It is an official nomenclature, defined by precise rules, which lay down the definition of the term “chronometer”, describing the categories, the test programme and the acceptable minimum requirements for wrist chronometers. In Switzerland, the COSC, or Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, is the only official organisation allowed to certify chronometers.

Modeled with high-performance bikes and racing cars in mind, Formex’s patented Case Suspension System works by integrating four springs between the upper and lower watch case. The result is the ultimate shock absorption system designed to protect the watch movement and deliver unparalleled comfort to the wearer.
This watch features an ultra-strong and light-weight folding clasp, made of carbon fiber composite and a stainless steel or titanium buckle. The gradual fine adjustment system allows you to tighten or loosen the strap length when the wrist size varies due to temperature and activity.
All straps and bracelets can be interchanged by hand without the use of any tools and in a few mere seconds. This allows you to easily swap straps on the go and wear your personal style for any occasion.
A sapphire crystal or “glass” is a very hard, transparent material made of crystallizing pure aluminium oxide at extremely high temperatures. Sapphire is one of the hardest substances on earth. It measures 9 on the Mohs scale (diamond measures 10, the highest rating), which is a system for rating the relative hardness of various materials, making it virtually scratch proof.
Applying AR coating will limit the reflection on a sapphire or mineral glass to a very low level.
The transparent case back, made of sapphire crystal, makes it possible to see the movement inside the watch.
Water resistance measures how much water pressure a watch can handle before it breaks. This measurement is important to know for the proper care and keeping of your watch. Water resistance of 100 m / 330 ft means that it can be used for swimming, snorkeling, and similar activities.

All our watches are designed, developed and assembled in-house at our headquarters in Biel-Bienne, Switzerland and meet the current, more strict Swiss Made requirement, which entered into force on January 2017. Every single piece undergoes a variety of quality and functionality controls, before making it to your wrist.

MASTERING THE ENGINEERING OF CERAMIC

Exceptionally hard, lightweight, hypoallergenic, and virtually scratchproof, zirconium oxide ceramic is a remarkable material for watchmaking. Yet its extraordinary hardness also makes it one of the most challenging materials to machine and finish with precision.

Drawing on 40 years of expertise in manufacturing ceramic watch components, Formex pushes the boundaries of what's possible with this demanding material.

The case and bracelet feature a sophisticated combination of sandblasted matte surfaces and subtle diamond-polished accents. Achieving such contrasting finishes requires exceptional precision, particularly along the sharply defined edges and intricate geometry of the case and bracelet links.

Beyond its striking appearance, ceramic offers lasting durability, remarkable resistance to everyday wear, and a smooth, comfortable feel against the skin.

Formex's patented Case Suspension System further enhances wearing comfort by allowing the case to adapt to the natural movements of the wrist.

OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED MOVEMENT

At the heart of the Essence Ceramica Dark Matter Redshift beats the Swiss Made Sellita SW200-2 Power+ automatic movement, delivering an extended power reserve of 65 hours.

Each movement is independently tested and certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), Switzerland's official chronometer testing institute.

To earn this certification, a movement must demonstrate exceptional precision across multiple positions and temperatures, meeting strict standards that include an average daily rate between -4 and +6 seconds.

The result is a reliable, high-precision mechanical movement that combines Swiss watchmaking expertise with the convenience of an extended power reserve.

WORLD'S FIRST MICRO-ADJUSTABLE CERAMIC CLASP

Engineering a fully integrated bracelet from ceramic is already a technical challenge. Incorporating a mechanical micro-adjustment system into its ceramic clasp takes that challenge to an entirely different level.

Formex developed the world's first on-the-fly micro-adjustable clasp integrated into a full ceramic bracelet, combining advanced manufacturing techniques with everyday practicality.

The patented mechanism allows the wearer to fine-tune the bracelet's fit in seconds, without tools and without removing the watch from the wrist. Whether accommodating natural changes in wrist size throughout the day or simply achieving a more precise fit, the adjustment is quick, intuitive, and discreet.

Seamlessly integrated into the bracelet, the clasp maintains the same sandblasted ceramic finish and refined aesthetic as the rest of the watch.

THE DARK MATTER REDSHIFT DIAL

Born in space billions of years ago, the Muonionalusta meteorite is one of the oldest known materials on Earth. Its extraordinary crystalline structure developed as molten iron and nickel cooled over millions of years in the vacuum of space.

Each dial is crafted from a genuine slice of this ancient meteorite, revealing the distinctive Widmanstätten pattern, an intricate arrangement of interlocking crystalline formations that makes every dial unique.

A black-gold galvanic treatment gives the meteorite its deep anthracite-to-near-black appearance, allowing the crystalline patterns to emerge and shift subtly with changing light.

Vivid red accents on the dial and seconds hand provide a striking contrast, drawing on Formex's motorsport heritage.

The name Dark Matter Redshift bridges two worlds: the mysterious darkness of the cosmos and the dynamic energy of motorsport. In astronomy, redshift describes the phenomenon in which light from a receding object shifts toward longer, redder wavelengths.

An ancient material from outer space, transformed into a distinctly modern expression of precision and performance.
